3 Tips for Shedding That Baby Weight

It’s a struggle for many moms to lose their baby weight, especially when they’re exhausted by the care and feeding of their actual baby. The good news is that it is possible to get your figure back even while you’re dealing with the many struggles of new motherhood. Here are just a few tips for making it happen!

1. Prepare Snacks In Advance

You won’t make smart nutritional decisions when you’re dead tired after sleepless nights with the new baby. You’ll reach straight for the junk food. Prepare for this eventuality by putting together healthy, nutritious and ready-to-eat snacks when your partner is minding the kid and you actually have a moment to yourself. In the future, you’ll be less tempted by the chips when there are carrot sticks and ranch dressing already on a plate in the fridge. You might occasionally go for the chips anyway, but at least the carrots will be there for next time.

2. Choose the Right Exercises

You have to be a miracle mom to hit the weightlifting equipment after you’ve just had a baby. Most women need to start slower, and that’s okay! Buy a fitness board that you can use at home for the perfect squat form, or look up yoga videos on YouTube and follow along while your baby is catching a nap. As a new mom, your goal should be getting any kind of exercise at all in between the craziness of your new life. Instead of striving for the picture-perfect workout, settle for “good enough for now.”

3. Set Realistic Goals

You aren’t going to lose all of your baby weight overnight. In fact, it might take even longer than usual if you’re still breastfeeding or retaining large amounts of water weight. This is completely normal, and it’s important that you both accept that and incorporate it into your weight loss goals. Don’t try to drop a crazy amount of poundage each week. Celebrate any kind of weight loss at all, and don’t be bothered if you have to simply maintain your weight during stressful weeks.

These are just a few tips for getting back into shape after having a baby. Your little bun has come out of the oven, and now it’s time to shut the oven door and make it flat again! Use these suggestions for fitting back into your pre-pregnancy clothes and being proud of your body again.
